Alpha patch notes

The improvements and fixes available in the alpha. The launcher keeps your game up to date.

Levels, items and fixes

Levels and travel

  • Heroes can now reach level 300. Experience earned beyond 300 is kept in a separate counter and shown in its own bar.
  • New recall scrolls work up to level 250 and level 300. Shops selling the level 200 scroll sell the new ones too.
  • Doors, the highest clan spawner and live quests no longer turn away heroes above level 200.

Items and upgrades

  • Silver and gold upgrades visibly recolour the whole item. Enhanced weapons remain visible when equipped and in the character preview.
  • Items show their Normal, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary or Mythical tier with a matching name and subtle border. Upgrading an item refreshes its tier, and the accents remain readable with effects off.
  • Upgrade confirmations show the materials required. Repeated item warnings are grouped, with the original messages kept in expanded chat and scrollback.
  • Upgrade warnings disappear when you confirm the upgrade. Item feedback, chat history and the timing of notifications have been corrected.
  • Items that cannot be equipped now say "Cannot be worn" instead of showing an impossible level requirement.

Gold and experience

  • Large gold amounts are easier to read with thousands separators.
  • The game can store experience above 4.29 billion and gold above 42.9 million.
  • Taking, depositing or withdrawing a very large amount of gold now gives the correct amount.
  • The hint to raise a skill stays hidden while you have negative experience.
  • Negative experience no longer becomes a huge positive total when you sign in.
  • If saved item data is damaged, signing in is stopped so the item is not silently lost.

World and display

  • Random dungeon gas traps, trapdoors and stairs down use 3D models. The random dungeon entrance in Aston is visible again.
  • The Apprentice's desk is a single gilded study table with its large scroll. The colour-tile puzzle and mine rocks also use 3D models.
  • Rain puddles and smooth floors no longer turn bright white when viewed towards the low sun.
  • The FPS counter no longer overlaps the version label.

See the levels and experience guide for milestone requirements, training limits and party experience rules.

Weather, the launcher and signing in

Weather and sound

  • Free look, using the middle mouse button, shows a sky that follows the weather and time of day: storm clouds, misty skies, evening light, stars and the moon.
  • Missing weather and animal sounds are back in the downloaded game, including rain, wind, thunder and the crows, pigs, foxes and deer.

Launcher and downloads

  • Resize or maximise the launcher; it remembers its size and position. Taskbar minimise and restore, and Windows snapping, work too.
  • Choose the installation folder. Before downloading, see the game size and available disk space. Move the game to another folder or drive in Settings.
  • Limit download speed, or pause and resume a download.
  • Choose whether the launcher minimises, hides in the system tray or stays open when the game starts.
  • Optional background updates download while you play and install after you close the game.
  • A new launcher version installs and restarts automatically when you start the launcher, if no game or update is running.
  • VSync is on by default. On first launch, the graphics quality is chosen for your graphics card.

Accounts and signing in

  • Account pages share the website's logo, navigation and artwork, with a complete mobile menu and easier access to help.
  • Password recovery and two-factor setup return you to the page you were trying to open. Expired links have clearer messages, and each browser tab keeps its own return link.
  • Refreshing an alpha email confirmation keeps the success page. Signing in through the browser returns correctly to the launcher.
