New: four worlds in the boss rifts

The boss rifts now look like the creepers that hold them: ice, storm, stone and fire, each with its own light and sound.

Ice, storm, stone and fire · in-game

The boss rifts in The Shattered Sanctum have their own worlds now. Every island looks like the creepers that hold it, and the platform matches its boss, so you can see what waits for you before you cross the bridge.

Four worlds

  • Ice. Frosted floors, ice pillars and icicles under every island. Ice mist pours off the edges and white birds circle close by.
  • Storm. Dark slate with violet in the cracks and purple crystals. Violet sparks fall from the edges, lightning flickers deep below and dark birds circle the islands.
  • Stone. Warm sandstone, fire braziers and tall statues. Sand runs off the edges into the dust below.
  • Fire. Black stone with lava glowing in every crack. Lava pours from the edges into a sea of fire.

Each world sounds different too: cold wind and creaking ice, storm gusts with far thunder, a dry dusty wind, or the rumble of lava. Rocks drift slowly in the void around the islands.

Gates and victory

  • A closed rune gate glows in the colour of what lies behind it, so you know what comes next.
  • Clear an island and its gate breaks open, then a wave runs over the island you took.
  • When the boss falls, a burst of light in the colour of its world marks your victory on the platform.

The patch notes list all the changes.
